Is this like an ultrasound?
No. A diagnostic ultrasound sends sound waves in to create an image. StemWave delivers focused acoustic waves into the tissue itself to stimulate a cellular response — it's a treatment, not a picture.
Does it hurt?
Most patients describe it as a firm tapping or thumping sensation. There's no numbing agent, no needle and no anesthesia. Tell your provider during the session if the intensity needs adjusting — it's easily dialed in.
How long does a session take?
The treatment itself runs about five minutes. Plan on a bit longer for your first visit so we can assess the area and go over your plan.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what's going on and how long it's been going on. Your provider will map out a recommended series at your first visit, based on your findings and your goals — and will tell you honestly if StemWave isn't the right tool for your case.
Is it covered by insurance?
Focused wave therapy is generally not billed to insurance. We'll go over exact pricing with you before anything begins, so there are no surprises. We accept most insurance plans for the rest of your care and are always willing to work with you.
Is there any downtime?
No. It's non-invasive, and most patients go straight back to work, the gym or whatever else was on the calendar that day.
Can I combine it with my chiropractic care?
Yes — that's how we prefer to use it. All eight of our providers communicate in real time, so StemWave gets folded into the same plan as your adjustments, acupuncture, Class 4 laser, massage or nutritional work.
